A time for everything

Proud moment!

This morning, Philip took us over to the base and got us signed in with a temporary pass, and then took us on a tour of the base. It's not a very big base and in fact doesn't even have an active runway any more. The graduation ceremony was at noon and afterwards we got a few pictures then went out for lunch. Since this was going to be the last day for Philip to see some of his class mates before they start going off to their different assignments, which range from Alaska to Germany and Japan, we then went our separate ways. Roger Jen and I went to visit Fort Concho, which was established in 1867, along the banks of the Concho River, to protect frontier settlements, patrol and map the vast West Texas region, and quell hostile threats in the area. Since it was latish in the afternoon and a weekday it was pretty quiet and we got a personal guided tour, which was very interesting. Then we went for a short walk around Angelo State University and then went for a walk along the Concho River, which turned out to be a great place to walk as there were loads of birds in the trees - mainly cormorants, but there were also a couple of herons in a nest.
