The Life of Bri

My Favourite... dog walk

The walk up the hill above the village has a number of variations, but they all start with a steepish rough farm track, where I have to keep Nevis on the lead until I ascertain if there are any sheep in the vicinity. If there aren't, he's off.

There are always plenty of things to blip - the seasons change everything regularly. In the early morning the sun rises over the hill to slowly spread across the valley below. In the evening, the last rays catch the top of the hill. In winter, it's the first place to catch the snow. As spring starts it greens up with over-wintered crops, but then the ploughing
begins in earnest, and it becomes a brown barren looking landscape for a few weeks. But not for long, and by May this year, it was lush. Come summer, the rape is out, and you have to be careful of the bees.

If you're up early enough, you might see some deer - if not, there's always the bird life.

At the top there's a big open field for playing hoop with Nevis.

Now in late summer, the crops are being harvested and we're getting our stubble fields back to play in.

The walk can be done in 20 minutes by the shortest route, or maybe 90 minutes if you go all the way to the top, but our regular route takes just under an hour.

Depending on what I see to blip along the way of course.
