Linn Mill
Took a wee drive, between rain showers, up to a small hamlet outside Clackmannan called Linn Mill.
Euan's Grandad Jimmy was brought up here in a tiny and ancient cottage here which still stands, clinging on precariously to the rocks above the Black Devon. These falls and pool are just to the back of the buildings and a long time ago there was a water wheel powering a saw mill, the remains of which are still visible in this shot. I think my old man may have even worked in the mill here at some point.
There's plenty of water coming over the falls just now but the huge trees and flattened grasses at this point indicate that it my have been a bit wilder than this recently.
After the requisite amount of stone chucking, there was also the required amount of ignoring of warnings not to climb up the old walls. Better place to throw stones from apparently.
EDIT: Just noticed; Euan seems to have found yet another use for my gorillapod - what a fantastically useful device this is!
