Gushet 5 - Brechin's Bar

The building dates from 1894 and sits opposite the Pearce Institute. I can't find out whether it's always been a bar, or any previous purpose. Seems a little too ornate to have always been a pub. Inside it's peculiarly like a bank, IIRC from a visit a long time ago.

And whether it counts as a gushet is also a bit moot. Govan Road is of course a large thoroughfare, but the road on the other side, Stoneykirk Road, ends just past the Bar!

The statue is of Sir William Pearce, the shipbuilding magnate.

Passed it today on our way to the Science Centre again. The wee man loves the air tube that blows little parachutes shaped like fish into the air. The Wallace & Gromit stuff is pretty good too.
