The Emerald Dairy's seen better days
I was early heading to today's music session, so took a detour, walked around a bit, and did some blipping. That's when I stumbled on this sad old building on the corner of Emerald Street on the way to the new Samuel Backett Bridge. It's all boarded up and peeling and sad and abandoned, and with things as they are economically these days, I doubt if it will improve any time soon.
The music session was great, capped off by a wonderfully appropriate final half-hour of part of Bach's St John Passion recorded at a BBC Prom concert in 2008. Terrific stuff, amazingly dramatic, and deeply moving. As if that wasn't enough of a highlight, our host decided that it was too wet and miserable to venture down to the local pub for the usual after-music chat, so broke open a few bottles of wine ... and then one of the guys produced Easter eggs 'for everybody in the audience'. So a really great time.
I vegetated back home afterwards, quietly and lazily.
