Thank you!
The PYG track up Snowdon, with a line of people trudging through the snow. Decided as there was limited vis that a summit attempt on Snowdon may be the right choice. Without ice axes, crampons and talent Crib Goch was out of the question (the rescue helicopter was testament to that yesterday), so an ordinary walk was the plan.
Managed to find my limit on the final ascent, having climbed a near vertical snow wall, I decided that I had had enough and wanted to go back...just didn't know how (looking down!) Anyway at that moment a chap with crampons and axe appeared, with some rapid training, the right words and some steps carved into the ice, he got me started & we were on our way. Whoever you are, a big thank you!
Best bit of the day was subsequently sledging the 300m from the PYG track to the Miner's, K proclaimed we must be mad (especially after me freezing near the top). Have really enjoyed the winter walking, but I think a trip to Scotland on a training course to learn some technique may be required.
