Bit of a funny old day today. Left Cromarty early this morning to fly to London, but my flight to Crete isn't until tomorrow morning. So I left my luggage in Gatwick and headed into the city centre for a wander. Later on I met a friend for dinner and a couple of cocktails and I'm now back in Gatwick where I'll be spending the next few hours.

I've spent the night in Gatwick before, the night of the 7th of July bombings here a few years ago. The transport networks were totally messed up so instead of risking not getting to the airport in time for our early flight we decided to go the evening before. It was a complete nightmare, and I swore I'd never do it again, but here I am. Unfortunately I have a very limited travel budget for conferences and really wanted to go to this one so the choices were a night in Gatwick or a night in Athens airport. I thought Gatwick might be more comfortable..

While I was in London I took a walk along the South Bank, and came across this skate park. There were some amazing skateboarders and BMX-ers there, I sat watching them for about an hour! This little tot was just mesmerised by the big boys doing their tricks, and eventually he plucked up the courage to run down the ramp a few times on his little scooter. So cute :)
