Camping in the snow
It's Easter weekend, we're camping with a Beltane group and we're not near the coast, it can mean only one thing... Snow!
We headed out at 10am to Borthwick. As we left the city we started driving in to snow. We manage to miss oour turn off by 6 miles but it turns out that things are far better signposted on the way in to Edinburgh than out of it.
We set up camp in the snow, gathered wood and soon turned the paths in to a slush mess. There's something about a geometric dome tent in the snow, it makes it feel far more wintery than it actually is. The site was actually really nice, the "shed" that we thought was on site was actually a proper scout hut with tables, chairs and table football, there were flush toilets and a big woodpile.
Unfortunately the site came complete with local crazy man. We knew before we got there that there had been an ongoing conflict over land ownership. The site had been closed for a year while it was resolved. Unfortunately despite the fact it had now been resolved, the other party decided to come down and threaten us for being on their land. After a couple of visits from the police it was finally sorted and we could get on with enjoying our weekend.
