Fantasy Palace

Not as striking as River Island and lacking the bleurgh factor of Oasis, the back door of the Fantasy Palace is a much more intriguing place, giving a glimpse back stage of one of Edinburgh's numerous 'adult entertainment' venues. The bench and the wall-mounted ashtray suggest that the back door here is more than a place for a quick cigarette. At least the people who use want to take the weight off their feet for a while.

Of course, it completely undermines the image of upmarket sophistication that these places try to project.

In other news, I came across potatoetry's journal this evening. Whether it's serious or a spoof, it's a bit of genius.
