Cast off loosely knitways.

I'm knitting a scarf. I'm not sure I can remember how to knit properly, not having done so since I was about 8 and used to knit plain squares for my granny to use to protect her hand from the hot teapot handle. I certainly don't know what "cast off loosely knitways" means. I expect I'll get my fourth row done tonight and then we will go to Ikea at the weekend and buy some kind of furniture with a drawer, into which I can put it to mature for ten years, as is traditional with attempted knittings in my family. (With the exception of those started, and always completed timeously, by my Auntie Marie, who is an expert and therefore must have got all the good knitting genes.)
