The Elephant Bed

I went to see this exhibit at the opening of the Lightcatcher Building addition to the Whatcom Museum of History and Art a few months ago. It was very crowded, and there were No Photography signs posted. I went back late this afternoon for another look. It was almost deserted, and the signs were gone.

The exhibit, by John Grade, is titled Bloom: The Elephant Bed. On April 10th it will be paraded through Bellingham and deposited in the bay to dissolve. Grade did a similar installation in Brighton, England in 2009. It suffered a similar fate in the waters of the English Channel.
