Faded beauty
This shot was taken in the lake resort of Palics, Vojvodina region, northern Serbia. 100 years ago, around 1912, this place and the neighbouring town of Szabadka/Subotica brimmed with energy and optimism. Today, it's still a wonderful place, but due to the twists and turns of history, the glory of old has long faded. The lake is so polluted it's no longer suitable for swimming. Also, an unexploded bomb from the 1999 US air raids is said to lie on the bottom of the lake.
Loved the place, but the stories made me sad.
