Here Be Dragons
This post was meant to be a shot of us whizzing around a track in Go-Karts but that was knocked on the head when we turned up to the karting centre to be told that it had been booked out by a Stag Do for the day. So, booked that for tomorrow instead.
In place of that us four chaps headed over to the Falkirk Wheel. Considering this has been in operation since 2002 and we all live twenty minutes away from this engineering marvel it was the first time any of us had actually seen the thing up close.
Really enjoyed the experience of the boat lift itself - such a simple idea brilliantly executed - and the whole area was buzzing with activity probably due to the warmest and sunniest day so far.
These Andy Scott sculptures are prototype/models of a further boat lift structure further down the canal system. But today, from this angle, this one just looked like a (human operated) fire breathing dragon instead of a mythical Kelpie.
