Nichols Park Pond
They came with the high hope of netting a frog or two, but with the sudden drop in temperature, there was only one heron hanging on a nearby reed, a few goldfish milling at their feet, and one very dead turtle discovery. They sat patiently while the bitter wind whipped at their fingers, holding tight onto their nets, bucket at the ready should one of those goldfish spring up out of the water to get a better look at them. Goodness knows, one of these girls was almost destined for a surprise dip in the icy pond given their proximity to its edge. One of the girls mentioned that frogs are afraid of the color red, but the other two felt safety was more important.
