Gardenia with Issues
I am worried about my Gardenia; it is still a bit cold here we are after all 4,000 feet above sea level. I read that this plant has requirements and may have issues!
I bought it in the supermarket Carrefore, I attracted the admiration of other shoppers who all wanted it and felt no compunction to waltzing straight up to me and asking me if they could have it. It was the only one you see, and its alluring waft of fragrance enveloped me as I sashayed down the isles giving me a goddess like aura which clearly said I had something interesting in my trolley!
I have read that I have to pick pine needles to arrange upon its sod in order for it to imbibe an acid drink (regularly) to keep it happy. And it has to have a humid situation, (what they were selling it in Granada Carrefore for, I will never understand; our atmosphere is as dry as a bone). Then lets talk about light; no direct sun, no direct shade; ideal situation is three feet away from a bright window (about 58% ultraviolet). Does anyone know where I can buy an utra-violet meter? Maybe there?s an app.
I have my work cut out. So far it has visited the light well (too cool, too dry, and too drafty), pottery (too dark) and the kitchen, where (for now) it is just right, but very much in the way.
I am drawing up a list of foster parents now who can care of it while I am away at the end of the month, or should I just take it with me, it liked the car.
