Right of Passage

Jordan is 15, about to leave childhood behind and transition to adulthood in the Quinceanera ceremony. Her escorts (Chamberlains) accompany her throughout the ceremony.

This ceremony is practiced by many Latin American cultures. The celebration is similar to a Sweet 16 or Debutante Ball for 18 yr old women. It can be very religious or a reason for a big party, depending upon the family and their beliefs and traditions. The Quinceanera for Jordan's family was fairly traditional. It was my first to attend and first to photograph and it was a lot of fun. Much more enjoyable than a typical wedding.
