Rhododendrons

Faraway Grandma and I were walking the bike path after work this evening and I discovered these brand new "Rhodies" just starting to bloom. These aren't your hothouse flowers or your nursery flowers. These are the wild Rhodys that grow all over. These are the first wild ones I've seen blooming. By May and the 100 and something's Rhododendron Festival they will be blooming everywhere! The wild ones grow as tall as trees.

We live on the second floor of our business and within weeks I will wake up in the morning, look out my bedroom window and see a sea of pink and rose and red Rhodys beneath me. The birds will be looking in my window and singing their songs.

What a wonderful way to wake up! I can't wait!
