Windmill Week - Day 5 - Fram
After I took Nienke and Inge to school, me and Ellis ventured out to Woltersum, a small but lovely village nearby. My windmill week assignment had us walking around the Fram, which is a unique mill because it has three functions:
* wood sawing with three saw frames;
* grinding corn with one pair of millstones;
* peeling with two peeling stones.
It was built in 1867 and is named after the ship of the Norwegian discoverer Nansen: FRAM means "forward".
More information can be found on the Fram website (links to a page in English which tells and shows the history of the mill).
Windmill week started here.
