Concert for a Cure and Comedy for a Cause

Two events that I attended today and they both have similar names. To begin, my day started out with waking up a little later than usual because there was no school and watching my DVR-ed The Sound of Music. Such an amazing movie; it never gets old. The day kind of went downhill from there...I kind of don't want to remember the details so I will not mention them.

However, things always turn around for me, (always thank God for that)! I went with my friend to Concert for a Cure, which was a jazz band benefit concert at my school for pancreatic cancer. It was amazing, especially since I've recently been into jazz. My school's jazz band played and also The Sun Messengers, a jazz group and the official band of the Detroit Pistons. The speaker was Jeffrey Zaslow, the partner of Randy Pausch, who I assume many people would know about with his famous Last Lecture. The videos shown and the speech moved me to tears. It was a wonderful experience.

Afterward, I headed to a nearby church and watched the end of Comedy for a Cause. It was hilarious and the guy was an extremely talented juggler. My friend and I got to meet George Blaha, who is the radio and television play-by-play voice of the Detroit Pistons, and get his autograph. We also got the autograph of the comedian! Then we went out for ice cream at Oberwei's and this day has ended nicely.

Things will always turn around with time. A memorable quote from today: "When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window." -The Sound of Music
