Easy Pea-sy...
We ditched our microwave a couple of month ago to release valuable kitchen top real estate. We found that we weren't using it for all that much after the kids grew past the baby stage.
The two things that it mainly got used for just before it was free-cycled were heating the kid's 'before bed' milk and cooking peas. The former was solved by phasing out the preference for warm milk but the latter still required a solution as I find using an entire pan of water for a handful of peas, a bit of a faff.
Have you ever tried cooking frozen peas with boiled water? Just boil the kettle, put the peas into a cup, pour in some boiling water and stir for a few seconds. Drain the water and repeat with a second batch of boiling water. Perfect peas in minimal time, minimal mess, maximum taste and you can even get a brew out the back of the process.
