dirt market
Bird's Nest, Temple of Heaven and Panjiayuan today, with hot pot for dinner. Panjiayuan is also known as the dirt market, and is a huge open air and enclosed market selling antiques, calligraphy brushes, jade, musical instruments, furniture and more. The shot above is from the book 'section'.
Although I didn't choose a photo from the Temple of Heaven, it deserves special mention as one of my favourite places to go on a Sunday- the park is full of folk, young and old, dancing, singing opera or rousing traditional songs, playing chinese chess and cards, and doing their exercises, be it tai chi or sit-ups. It's an amazing place to be and you could spend literally hours just watching everyone enjoy themselves. If you are ever in Beijing, go!
