White-marked Tussock Moth caterpillar.
Very dull and gloomy here today, so my blip plans, needing sunshine, fell through. I captured this guy early this morning; not a pleasant caterpillar, in fact he was quite aggressive and pig-headed. It was as much as I could do to get him to stay on the piece of vine, let alone teach him to skate-board :) The White-marked Tussock Moth is a common native of North America, living throughout the eastern U.S. and Canada. The caterpillars feed voraciously on a wide range of plants, including birch, cherry, apple, oak, and even some coniferous trees like fir and spruce.
VERY creepy Large!
