Carl's great new Freesat box with its recordable drive is a godsend on a morning like this. The Chinese Grand Prix was on at 7.00 am, but there was no need either to wake to watch it live or to wait for the re-transmission. So Carl and I chose our own time to watch, even considering not bothering with all the lead-up and the pundit interviewing and the analysis and the what-ifs and all the rest of it but finally deciding that it wouldn't be the same without the lead-up.

The first two-thirds of the race was actually good and exciting and incident-packed, helped again by unpredictable weather. It's a shame that race excitement only materialises now when rain comes into the equation. Anyway, despite not particularly liking him, I have to admit that Lewis Hamilton drove well and deserved to finish second. Once again I ended up feeling sorry for Sebastian Vettel, who seems to be dogged with bad luck this season, and I was disappointed that Nico Rosberg didn't manage to hold on to the lead. Still, it's all hotting up nicely, and hopefully we'll see some good racing now things are moving to Europe (well, Icelandic volcano permitting).

After the race and a bite of brunch it was time for another mini marathon session of Ballkissangel episodes, and then time for me to turn the car's nose northward and cross the city to home territory. A quick evening walk later on, just around a local block or two, a quick point of the camera at a few blippable bits and bobs, and that was more or less it for the day.
