POSH

Having two cameras with me on board is POSH. It is very convenient for not having to change lenses all the time, but it is not really necessary. That is why it is called POSH. I wonder how many people actually know what POSH really means.
It stands for Port Out Starboard Home and goes back to a long past era.

Roughly hundred years ago there were no airplanes for passengers.
Only comfortable passenger ships bringing wealthy people to the colonies in India and the Far East. Air-conditioning was not invented yet and if you had money enough you could afford yourself a cabin on the port side of the vessel eastbound and on the starboard side homebound. These were the cooler sides of the vessel because the sun was always on the other side. You had to pay extra, but it was an extra luxury.

On this trip from Rio to Angola we stay on southern latitudes and with northern declination, the sun zeniths in the north during noon. You can see the shadow of the sun clearly pointing south at the middle of the day with our heading East.
So an extra luxury cabin would be called SOPH this trip. But the air-conditioning is working properly.
