Dragged Mr L.O. out to hike this AM. It is 3 miles there and back, reaching an elevation of about 2500' - 800' in the ascent, so not too bad, along switchbacks.
Beautiful day, we await the dog days of summer.

The sign on the hill says PHOENIX, pilots used it to navigate in days of yore, I'm told. The town in the far off distance is Fountain Hills.

Saw more interesting critters including a velvet ant which is quite an unusual looking bug - a wasp, evidently and has a bright red furry derriere.
Cute as long they don't bite you.
