almost 10 & the family gathers
Oldest daughter's oldest turns ten on Tuesday so we gathered to celebrate today. My middle one came out with her three and my son was able to be there too, though he is packing for Texas. Of course, "closer" Grandma & Grandpa were there and the birthday girl's godfather who hasn't seen her for a while. (was he surprised at what a lovely young lady she is becoming! We know they are growing up but never quite expect what we see.)
Middle child brought their new Wii game to share with a new "dancersize" type program. We all danced to exhaustion, from 5 to 61. Only three wands going at once, but that didn't keep the rest of us from joining them on the floor all at the same time.
Kids hoisted themsleves (& whatever they could imagine to connect to a rope) up the climbing rope in the back yard, played "get things stuck in the tree", "Spy", geo-trac layout, wore out the hammock (literally) and cooked s'mores. Meanwhile the adults had some lively political discussion and rehashing of memories of them growing up.
and then there was SO much scrumptuous food! better walk it off tomorrow..
