God's Holes

Today, although officially a 'day off' for us teachers, being a Saturday, was spent by Pat and I getting a head start on some paper work in preparation for the inspection in a few weeks time. We were basically catching up on stuff which we should have done ages ago, and felt quite a sense of achievement at the end of our 7 hours of work.

"A Curriculum for Excellence" is now making a bit more sense...

When I got home tonight, there was again a wee break in the bad weather. A few years back, when I was playing at a ceilidh in Achiltibuie (north of Ullapool), the kids there told me that these shafts of light through the clouds were "God's holes".

I've never thought of them as anything else since then.
