The Blue Rose

When I was a little girl, I saw this swashbuckling adventure about a hero who can only marry his princess if he can find the rarest single flower in the world - the Blue Rose. I was totally entranced by it, and spent years and years thinking that blue roses - or even blue flowers - were the most rare and special things in the whole of the plant kingdom.

Of course, now I know that you do get blue flowers - though blue roses still elude us - or have they cracked that one and I didn't get the memo? However, whenever I see blue flowers like this one, it always sparks and reconnects me to that awe and wonder I had as a child, and makes me think it's magic. I like that...
