The Plum That Was Once a Lilac

In Primary 2 my teacher - upon our leaving her class for the last time - handed each of us a plum from her garden. I planted the stone in the ground and was delighted to find that it started to turn into a tree!

Except, years later, when I asked why it never gave us plums and why it had very similar flowers to a few of the other trees in the garden, my mum confessed that it wasn't a plum, but a lilac. So by way of apology, she bought me a plum tree for the garden, which has just started to flower. So I braved the rain and took a picture. Little blurry, I was on my tip toes and was wobbling a bit!
