Madame Marie

I met Madame Marie on the Rue Mouffetard. She used to sing in Paris in the 1950s and was singing to customers in a cafe that we were passing. She told me that she was much prettier than Gina Lollobrigida in her day and still performs every sunday at Place Mouffetard on the steps of the church. She is 82, had the warmest smile and longs to be transported back to the time when she was young, when life was less complicated and her voice strong.
