Day 21 Ghana
Well for those that haven't heard, theres been a volcano and it threw lots of volcanic ash into the airspace above the UK! Subsequently it has thrown everything in to a bit of a pickle... even now!
So because of this I start day 21 in Ghana when in actual fact I had intended to have arrived back in the UK earlier today.
When my flight was booked (part of the package of R's extension in March) it was booked for the same time as R's contract finishing and his return back to the UK which is next week (i'd requested yesterdays date but was assured it could just be changed). This didn't work for me as I was supposed to be Scuba Diving at Dive Fest this weekend coming and also needed for starting a new teaching supply agency next week when my CRB should be through. So once the airspace was all at full flow again we tried to change my ticket which should have been a straight transfer of flights as per the type of ticket. Nope because of the goings on with the volcanic ash the airline now wanted £2025 for the change of flight! This just didn't make sense really and so it is I now have a 10 day extension to the trip. The loss of wages doesn't compare to the now apparent cost of transferring the flight. It is apparently the airlines way of putting you off buying tickets and therefore getting everyone shipped back home who had been delayed.
So todays photo is of the house that R (and currently myself) has been in since February its had a catalogue of issues as long as your arm... the fridge standing outside has been there for 3 weeks and is waiting for the landlord to pick it up as it is very broken! What you can't see from the photo is the 70 metre drive way! If it wasn't so hot I could keep very fit doing shuttles up and down the drive!
So if I can't be back in the UK... it'll just have to be another pina colada!
