hot sugar

I'm in the middle of making plum jam with the tons of plums off our tree.
The blip was taken at the moment of adding the hot sugar (as instructed by Delia). The whole thing is a pain in the neck if you ask me:
-taking all the stones out of the plums
-waiting for it to boil
-making sure the sugar is completely dissolved
-doing the crinkle test on a cold plate - mine looks like its not going to set!!
-scraping the labels off old jars
-heating the jars in the oven
-finding I don't have those wee greaseproof circles and on and on...
