No Regrets

Fast Adolescents

With fur patterns
like over-ripe bananas
they stalk meat, food,
other animals with mom
doing most of the leg work.
These cheetah youngsters or
students of the hunt watch
as mom sprints and tackles,
as mom bites and sprinkles
fresh blood on the ground,
this is breakfast for her
and her kids. There is a small
window for survival because
"They are no marathoners"
I hear from the narrator.
It's always interesting
how even on the nature channel
they have to over-hype
"constant struggle for survival"
among cheetahs on African plains
so we can forget our own
not-so constant struggle
to decide what to do,
which channel to choose.
