Big Wheel

We live on the site of an ex-colliery and beyond the housing is a great space which has been wonderfully landscaped, with walks, lakes, artwork and examples of the industrial heritage we have literally been built on.

The wheel above was once part of the Pit Head mechanism. You can see an old black and white photograph of one of these when it was working, at this post on my blog.
