Hurrah hurrah hurrah! One of our favourite local delicacies is now in season! We got our first asparagus of 2010 from the farm that will become one of our regular haunts for about the next six weeks!

We'll probably go at least once a week and will gorge ourselves on these tasty spears. We'll get through more butter than we usually do, and we'll replenish the rubber band collection (they use rubber bands to bundle up the asparagus)!

Then, once the season is finished, we'll probably only eat asparagus once or twice the whole of the rest of the year, since this ultra-fresh ultra-sweet stuff that we eat by the plateful will have spoiled us and the small quantity of highly-priced and well-travelled spears just won't have the same appeal.

It's a great time while it lasts!


By the way, apologies for the sporadic commenting at the moment - I've been doing rather a lot and consequently spending a lot of time asleep when I'm at home. I'll try to catch up sometime, although I am generally having a quick look at your blips even though I'm not always getting chance to comment.
