Have A Glorious Day!

We did!
Another gorgeously sunny day :o)

We went to the Guggenheim this morning which was brilliant. It's worth going to just to see the building which is truly a wonderful piece of art in itself, very beautiful. The collection is great too though, lots of favourites there like Kandinsky, Klee, Picasso, Manet... Do love a bit of the abstract.

It was so tempting to that blip today, especially from the inside where you can see art and people walking on each of the levels which coil up like a corkscrew. But this one from Central Park stole my heart. Not my best picture, but just really nice!

We'd spent a bit of time wandering around the Upper East Side after being at the gallery and had lunch in a really cool wee diner on E 73rd St called E.J.'s Luncheonette. And as Holly Golightly's apartment building had been on 71st St obviously I had to have a quick nosey at that! OK, so she isn't real....I suppose....but thats the building they filmed in Breakfast At Tiffany's and I've seen it so many times that it feels real to me!

It wasn't at all the reason I persuaded M+M to walk back to 5th Ave and up to the 90th St entrance to Central Park instead of taking the subway. Neither was the fact we'd pass the Met on 82nd and get a better view of the Guggenheim from across the road on 89th.... Or that I was a wee bit vague about which street we were going to and kept saying its just coming up!
Ahhhh the power of the map-reader ;o)

Once inside we walked around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir which is so pretty. Called this because Jackie walked round here every day when she lived nearby so when she died they named it after her. It's brilliant for reflections of the buildings that surround Central Park. However heat exhaustion and thirst eventually pushed us of the running track (not that we were among the joggers! No way Jose.) and in search of a water fountain. We had a good walk across and through the park which was lovely. I even managed to have my picture taken sitting on a toadstool next to Alice in Wonderland before we crossed back over and through Strawberry Fields to find a subway back :O)
