Annual Womens Tea
I like pretty things . . . this looks pretty and maybe even pretty cluttered. This yearly event is extremely "girly" with lots of glitter, sparkle, and shine and so the tables get rather full and possibly cluttered.
The transformation of a church social hall to a place filled with beautiful table ware, teapots, dishes, silverware was lots of work for a few who made it lovely for the many. All the gals dressed in their pretty tea attire made the place that much more gorgeous. I wish I had had the nerve to wear one of my many beautiful hats. I love hats, but they don't seem to be in fashion these days. My husband, yes that would be Mr. Fun, loves it when I wear a hat. Maybe I should go open one of my hat boxes and put on a hat before I go downstairs. Anyway, what I was explaining is that the "tea room" was a delightful place.
My friend, Cyndi, decorated the table where I sat. I had the privilege of sitting right next to her. She's lots of fun and being next to her added immensely to this afternoon event. Another friend, Lynda, was also at our table. Lynda and Cyndi are good good friends and extreme opposites, so when they are together the combination is dynamic -- it's a grand mixture of wisdom and fun and there's not a dull second.
We had entirely too much food. Look at this line-up: scones with devonshire cream, lemon curd, and jam; chicken confetti soup; Mandarin salad; fruit skewers; BLT stuffed tomatoes, chicken salad puffs, corned beef puffs, ham and turkey roll-ups; marmalade pineapple pinwheels; cucumber Benedictine sandwiches; checkerboard bread squares; for dessert -- butterfly cookies, mini lemon tarts, tea cakes, butterfly pretzels, and white chocolate raspberry mousse. I ate everything, until the dessert plate arrived and there was no way I could swallow another bite.
Saturday evening is now upon us. I need to get downstairs to Mr. Fun and Bob dog. Hopefully, I'll get back here a bit later to do some commenting. Thanks for all the comments yesterday. It helps to know that others have the "Blip-blahs" sometimes too. I don't like the term "Misery loves company" but I do like the term "Hope loves company" and so many of you shared "hope" on my page yesterday.
Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
P.S. My friend, Lynda, is going to loan me her "air-card," also known as "wireless internet USB 3G-modems." Yesterday I referred to it as "thingy." So I will be able to determine if that's what I need. She says it is a great device. I can hardly believe she is going to left me use it. If it works well here, then I will most likely be purchasing one.
