The Launch

I stopped into the Royal Northern Yaught Club today to get a blip from the end of the jetty, as it turned out to be a beautiful evening. I bumped into Norrie the launch driver, who very kindly offered me a wee trip in the launch boat. I got this shot as we headed out onto the Gareloch to collect a club member from their boat.I used to drive this boat myself when i was at Uni, so it was like a wee trip down memory lane.

Although it didn't have a fancy new diesel engine with a push button start back then, no in my day it had a huge crank handle, which required vigorous cranking, and two fuel switches which had to be flicked at the precise moment just before the spinning crank handle took your arm off! The whole thing roared into life with a puff of black smoke and off it spluttered.
