Heaven's Gate

I called in at a churchyard today because Spotted Flycatchers nest there. They haven't arrived from Africa yet so I thought I'd like to share this image with you. The entrance to the church yard has a lovely entrance gate with these skulls encased in the stonework. I suppose all who enter (the churchyard that is) will be reminded of their mortality before they pray and maybe to pray just that bit harder and with more conviction.
As an aside, note that the stonemason has separated the to and day of today on the inscription.
I know another church with letters X111 painted on the clock for X11 when I visit that church yard I'll upload a photograph of it.
