FIRE!
It finally happened. After 8 false fire alarms this semester, today a real fire finally happened. As always, I was in my pajamas and forced to grab my stuff, put on some shoes, and a jacket. Of course, I had no idea the fire was real, but the incessant ringing of the alarm was enough to encourage me to leave. It was a nice day outside, so it wasn't the worst thing ever (unlike yesterday...it was pooourrring). The firefighters came after 10 minutes, which I think is a very long response time considering the fire phobia here. The residents of the entire apartment building flooded our little street, closing one lane of the street down. Cars continued to fly through the street, despite the hundreds of people around. After 15 minutes or so, the warden came out and informed us it was a real fire. Finally! A real fire (remember the boy who cried wolf? I was seriously tempted to stay in...but the alarm was too obnoxious). The funniest part was seeing three women saunter out barefooted 20 minutes after the alarm rang. REALLY ladies? The alarm didn't bother you at all? The alarm reaches the perfect two pitches that resonate in your ear. Oh how I loathe the educated musicians-scientists who picked those pitches (Unfortunately, I can't give you the particular note or the wavenumber...I can only tell you that the two pitches are a minor 3rd apart). Anyway, we were allowed to return soon after since the fire wasn't in our building (the apartment has 5 buildings--a, b, c, d, e. We share one main entrance, common rooms, and courtyard).
Do you see how much I can write when I don't want to study? Haha. Back to my studies I suppose. Hoping to pull an all-nighter tonight to get my work done.
