New Arms?

This little one year old Mammillaria Cactus seems to be growing new ears.

The quarter is shown to give a sense of scale to show that this is a very tiny plant.

There is a slight chance that these appendages may be new arms, however at an age of one year, the chance is very slight. We have to keep in mind that the Giant Saguaro Cactus doesn't grow new arms until an age of about 75 years. Perhaps for little guys, arms come earlier.

There is also a possibility that these are buds and will eventually become blossoms.

I hope we won't have to wait 75 years to find out.
