a tribute to lonely little petunia and her fantastic taste in all things fabric related
i bought this in greenwich market when i was about 16 or 17 - I hadnt taken my money with me and fell in love with it. my mum didnt approve of me buying it so wouldnt lend me any money so i walked all the way home and back to get some cash. i'm not sure why she didn't think i'd inherited a stubborn streak (from both my parents)
at one stage i made a skirt out of it which i used to wear with black woolly tights and doc martens. but otherwise it's just sat around through multiple moves and life changes waiting for its moment.
i don't have a bathroom window now - just a skylight - but i want to do something with it.
it's fantastically bossy and the shaving brush reminds me of my pop's bathroom where they used to have two sorts of loo paper - pink and soft, and hard and scratchy -, a fluffy bathroom mat, whisky decanters on the staircase which caught the evening sunlight and made 'fairies' on the wall and my granny making bubbles in her hands with soap.
