Pioneer Ridge
I am wondering around the Matanuska Valley wondering what type of blip I should do today.
Well I have no plans, so it is opportunistic for sure. I am optimistic that I will find something.
When I find it I will likely apply some technical craft in some sort of illustrative manner.
This is Pioneer Ridge. In the 1930's about 200 colony families moved into the Matanuska Valley. This site is towards the western expanse of the colony settlements. There are several old Colony Barns and houses still standing.
From this site you can see Pioneer Peak and the Chugach Mountains across the flood plane of the Knik River and Inlet.
This is somewhat of a landmark.
