My Postcard
You might be forgiven for thinking that this is a nice little Tea House set in Korea, in actual fact it was taken up in the Bathgate Hills.
This is the Scottish Korean War Memorial.
It is a very quiet and peaceful place, and was planted with 110 Korean Pines 1 for each 10 Britons who died. and 1090 Birch trees, one for each of the fallen.
The Memorial was opened on the 27th June 2000, marking the 50th anniversary of the war.
Al and I were up there a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning, and we came across a veteran. He was tuning up his bagpipes, to play for his fallen comrades. We just had to sit and listen, it was very emotional moment.
