Berlin Day 1 : Beer!

Taxi arrived at 8.30 to take us to the airport for our 10.45 departure. A pleasant, uneventful flight. Train connection to city centre, then switch to U-Bahn to Nollendorfplatz and a short trek to find the apartment.

We didn't waste much time before heading out and about to get our bearings around the immediate vicinity, by the end of which these beers were very welcome. After that it was a matter of buying a bit of groceries to stock up the fridge, making contact with two of the Music Group gang to arrange to meet them when their opera finished, then a quick nap, then back out for another wander and an eventual choice of place to eat (okay, but far from great food).

We met the guys as arranged, spent a pleasant time with them, shared their enthusiasm for the opera they'd been to (Siegfried, the second of Wagner's Ring series tonight), and returned to the apartment at a reasonable hour.
