A day of many tasks!
Started the day with the first bowls match of the season. Straight into a competition match! And WON 21 - 6 (I won't give you the running commentry as provided by many bowlers.) All I can say is, Watch out Aldomak!!! If you win your next handicap match - you will be facing the might of A'Desk!
Then did a bit of servicing on the Wal. This is the FIRST TIME in 26 years that the electronics have needed any attention! A quality instrument. The jack socket had become slightly loose and with the wiggling, the lead to the grounding capacitor had snapped (pictured). This was causing a "popping" noise when the lead ocassionally contected. A quick tighten, clean of the connector and resolder the capacitor, and it was right as rain.
Then headed into CC Music, and Jimmy Egypt's guitar repar shop. I have used Jimmy Moon for years, but I though I would try Egypt for a change (is everyone in Glasgow called "Jimmy"?).
I took the Jazz Bass and the Acoustic. L has been playing the acoustic extensively over the last couple of weeks. But the action is high, the saddle knackered, and dodgy frets around the 14th. So its going for a serious makeover and service.
The Jazz bass has also always been too high action....on a fretless, you should just be lightly touching the strings. The neck may need shimmed to adjust the break angle with the body.
Hopefully, they will both come back right as rain.
My poor stiff fingers are finding it harder and harder to play.
So with the Porsche getting a makeover, all the guitars getting a makeover, the garden having its makeover...and the house getting its makeover before Christmas...everything is looking good.
Now if I could only get a makeover for K and I :) ...
