Happy Mother's Day
I hope all you mothers out there got as much love as you deserved today.
I had a mixed lot on balance.
Woke up alone as dr Dad was on call at the hospital all night, so there was no-one there to instigate any breakfast in bed, and M was so excited on Friday she couldn't wait till today to give me her school made presents (above), so I'd already had my chips so to speak. Then we had an en masse birthday party to go to, so I spent the morning shopping for presents.
The party itself was at a game center/soft play place where the kids could play on the indoor gym stuff, or trampolines, or the arcade games as much as they wanted in a confined space. This left our adults free to chat and eat and drink, or alternatively, in only in Japan fashion, lock ourselves in a room and practise our karaoke, use the free internet service to our hearts' content, or work off a few calories on one of those horse-riding exercise machines that look like a rodeo bucking machine, while we waited for the kids.
It was nice to share Mothers Day with a group of other mums, and appreciate each other!
Afterwards a smaller subset of good friends went out for dinner at my favourite Indian, so all in all it was a good day.
Except that the Dads let us Mums sit together at a separate table while they looked after the kids, and then at the end, they paid for their own table's orders, and left us to pay for our own. ON MOTHERS DAY.
They will not hear the end of this for a while.
With respect to the letter from my angel: the hardships of growing up bilingual occasionally lead to a few bloopers. I really am not doing anything untoward "to" her, before your imaginations run riot!
Also forgive the "peace" heart. She was born across the rooad from the hypocenter of the world's first atomic bombing.
