If the Shoe Fits
I took the boys to the rugby / football / athletics field in Alberton for a run at 6:30 this morning. Sean is working all weekend and couldn't go with, so I went past my folks' house and fetched my dad.
It was a lovely, wind-still morning and we watched the sun rise over Alberton as Paddington and Baloo ran until Baloo could run no more (Paddington looked like he was only just getting going!) Crossing the B-field, we saw something on the grass in the distance... the dogs went to investigate and came back with a single Nike football boot.
We were wondering how it's possible to leave only one shoe behind?! We decided to leave it where it was, as its owner would hopefully come looking for it. My dad proceeded to tie it to the goal post, where he felt it would be more visible and safe from other dogs. He was unaware of me taking this shot: I loved the soft morning light, the long shadows and the concentration on his face... But most of all I loved the fact that he was THAT concerned about something as seemingly insignificant as a stranger's football boot:)
