La Puerta
Back-blip. This is one of my favorite pictures from Guatemala. It is from our first day in a little town called La Puerta (The Door in English). The people in this town are very poor, and it was about an hour to an hour and a half away from the mission complex. The people of Guatemala are so incredibly friendly. After just a short time of being in La Puerta, we were readily accepted. On the first night there, we showed a film about Jesus on a projector, and just about the whole town came to watch it. We also handed out food and clothes to each family in the village. Throughout the course of our four days in La Puerta, we did medical clinics with eye glasses, door-to-door evangelism, men and women's discipleship, VBS for the kids, and we also dedicated a well that people in the States had raised money for. The people of the town kept asking when we were coming back, and the kids would ask us if we could stay. This town changed my life.
This picture was taken right in front of the building that we held medical clinic and women's discipleship in. Hibiscus also happens to be my favorite flower. :)
