You Don't Hear Me
by Greenhouse Effect vs. Radiohead
I Never Knew
There was a window that looked
out onto shaky streets
that held unsteady children railing
to mother and pounding on depressed
and finger smudged store glass.
This window that looked out
onto the black tar trail
and concrete side for walking,
this window was shared by a girl
who would unravel me,
who would partially knit me back,
together. I never knew
that this window belonged to her
until I saw her. Until
I was invited to look
through her heightened window and around
her house. It was dazzling
to see everything so illuminated.
It was humbling to see through
her eyes. It was all so new.
